Nassau Lawyer Publishes Article by Andrew M. Thaler
The Nassau Lawyer, a monthly legal publication distributed to members of the Nassau County Bar Association, published an article written by Andrew M. Thaler and David N. Saponara in its April 2014 issue. The article, entitled Introductory Guide to Matrimonial Issues in Bankruptcy, discusses a variety of issues involving the intersection of family law and bankruptcy law.
Nassau County Bar Association Recognizes Andrew M. Thaler with the Access to Justice Champions Award
The Nassau County Bar Association recognized Andrew M. Thaler with the Access to Justice Champions Award, a designation that honors attorneys committed to providing pro bono legal services in Nassau County.
Andrew M. Thaler Featured as Author in Examiners in Bankruptcy Cases: A Guide for Examiners, Courts and Practitioners 
Andrew M. Thaler authored a chapter in a new book from West Publishing and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, entitled Examiners in Bankruptcy Cases: A Guide for Examiners, Courts and Practitioners. Mr. Thaler's chapter is entitled The Examiner: Powers and Limitations. Mr. Thaler is a member of the the Committee on Bankruptcy and Corporate Reorganization and the Subcommittee on Examiners in Bankruptcy.

Andrew M. Thaler Appointed as Mediator in Agape World, Inc. Bankruptcy Case
Andrew M. Thaler has been appointed by the Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York to serve as one of three mediators in the Agape World, Inc. bankruptcy case, one of Long Island's largest Ponzi schemes, to mediate resolution of numerous clawback adversary proceedings commenced by the bankruptcy trustee.

  • On March 12, 2014, Andrew M. Thaler participated as a panelist in a Nassau County Bar Association Dean's Hour program entitled Alternative Dispute Resolution: Resolving an Estate-Related Commercial Dispute.
  • On March 4, 2014, Andrew M. Thaler participated in a program at the Nassau County Bar Association presented by the Theodore Roosevelt Inn of Court entitled The Art of Mediation: A Cost Effective Alternative to Judicial Determinations.
  • On February 25, 2014, Andrew M. Thaler participated in a mock mediation presentation at the Nassau County Bar Association presented by the Alternative Dispute Resolution and Elder Law Committees. The mock mediation addressed guardianship issues.
  • On January 30, 2014, Andrew M. Thaler presented a program at Sterling Educations Services, Inc.'s 7th Annual Landlord-Tenant Law Seminar in White Plains, New York, addressing landlord-tenant issues in bankruptcy.
  • On December 16, 2013, Andrew M. Thaler presented at a Joint Meeting of the Attorneys/Accountants and Bankruptcy Law Committees of the Nassau Country Bar Association at the Nassau Country Bar Association Domus. The program focused on accounting issues in bankruptcy cases and offered insight from bankruptcy attorneys, trustees, and their accountants.
  • On November 21, 2013, Andrew M. Thaler presented a program at the Long Island Tax Professionals Symposium geared towards providing accountants with a working understanding of bankruptcy.  The Symposium, held at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, is a comprehensive, three-day series of seminar programs co-sponsored with the Internal Revenue Service and the Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners (NCCPAP). Each year more than 700 practicing tax professionals, including CPAs, enrolled agents, corporate tax executives, financial planners, and attorneys, gather for this event.
  • On October 21, 2013, Andrew M. Thaler, along with Seymour Goldberg, presented a program, entitled Review of Bankruptcy Rules and Whether Inherited IRAs and 403(b) Plans are Protected Against Creditors, for the Suffolk Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs at Valley National Bank in Huntington Station.
  • On October 16, 2013, Andrew M. Thaler participated in a mock mediation presentation at the Nassau County Bar Association, presented by the Alternative Dispute Resolution, Community Relations, and Public Education Committees, entitled Keeping Family Feuds (and other Fights) Out of Court.
